2005 Toyota Celica
Kiichiro Toyoda, son of Toyota company founder Sakichi Toyoda, traveled to the U.S. and Europe in 1929 to investigate automobile design and production before starting research into gasoline engine design in 1930. But it took another three years before Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd. created a new department dedicated to the design, development, and production of automobiles. Within one year it had created the Type A engine used in the 1935 Model A1 passenger car and G1 truck, which bore a striking resemblance to contemporary Chevrolet and Dodge models, respectively. These were followed by the Model AA car until Toyota’s plants were switched over to truck production for World War II. The company’s factories were spared when Japan surrendered days before Toyota’s facilities were scheduled to be bombed by the Allies.
The 1947 Toyopet SA took the company back into commercial automobile production, but it would be another 10 years before the company entered the U.S. market with the conservative Crown sedan. Another nine years passed before the Corolla entered production. This economy car was followed in 1967 by the 2000GT, a limited-production glamorous sports car that was developed in conjunction with Yamaha, and that would, in convertible form, star in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice.
The 1970s proved to be a pivotal time for Toyota; the twin oil crises made Toyota’s small, fuel-efficient vehicles very attractive to American consumers. U.S. imports grew dramatically during this time, aided by the efficiencies of the Toyota Production System (TPS). It drew heavily on the writings of Henry Ford, the work of quality guru W. Edwards Deming, and the just-in-time restocking system a Toyota delegation observed while visiting a Piggly Wiggly grocery store on a fact-finding visit to the United States in the 1950s. TPS allowed Toyota to build high-quality small cars at a profit at a time when U.S. manufacturers could not, which gave Toyota ever-increased market share. Satisfied customers began to demand more models that were closer to American tastes, and Toyota responded with sportier vehicles like the Celica and Supra. In an effort to bring an American flavor to its design, Toyota established Calty Design Research, Inc. in California.
In 1984, it joined forces with GM to re-open the latter’s Fremont, Calif., assembly plant to produce the Chevy Nova, a Toyota Corolla twin. Over the next 20 years it built two assembly plants in Canada and six in the U.S. These plants produce everything from the Corolla and Matrix to the RAV4, Camry, Highlander and Tundra pickup.
As if Toyota’s growing American market share and diversifying product line wasn’t enough, the company began to take on the established luxury car manufacturers when it launched its Lexus division and the V-8-powered rear-drive LS 400 sedan. In 2003, it launched the Scion brand to appeal to younger consumers with unique, fresh vehicles.
2009 Honda Accord

The 2009 Honda Accord's engines stand out in the midsize sedan class as being among the most economical yet powerful, and its roomy interior also ranks as one of the most stylish. Standard equipment abounds in the Accord, and electronic stability control, which is commonly optional in this class, is installed across the line.
Honda's Accord got a completely new, more sophisticated and detail-oriented look in 2008, along with a complete mechanical redesign. The result is a car that stands out in the automotive world.
Seats and seating are a particular strong suit of the new Accord. In front, they are generously apportioned, and Honda claims an equal level of comfort for both front and rear passengers. Overall interior volume is 120 cubic feet, which officially crosses the Accord over into large sedan territory.
Despite being larger, the Accord has great torsional rigidity, which gives the car's suspension optimal ride and handling, with double wishbones in front and a multi-link setup in back, along with wide tires across the model line. Wheels range from 16-inch steel wheels on base models up to 17-inch alloys on up-level coupes and sedans; on the coupe, 18-inch alloys are also available.
The Accord is offered in either LX or EX trim, with either a 2.4L four-cylinder engine, making either 177 horsepower or 190 horsepower, depending on the model, or a 3.5L V6 making 271 horsepower. The V6 comes with the latest version of Honda's variable cylinder management (VCM) system, which can shut down two or three cylinders when possible to increase fuel efficiency. The more powerful 190-horsepower version of the four-cylinder engine uses a variable-valve silencer and high-flow exhaust system to bring improved performance with no penalty in fuel efficiency. This version is standard on base LX and upscale EX coupes, and also on mid-level EX sedans.
A five-speed manual transmission is standard on all four-cylinder engines, while a five-speed automatic is optional with the four and standard with the V6. A six-speed manual transmission is exclusively offered on the EX-L coupe.
The Accord LX is an economical model that doesn't lack for creature comforts, while EX models are dressed up with alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust tip and blue ambient interior lighting, and include more luxury items such as heated mirrors, a moonroof and a security system. At the top of the range is the EX-L, which adds leather seating and trim, upgraded instrumentation, dual-zone climate control, and the premium audio system with active noise cancellation.
Accord sound systems have MP3 and WMA compatibility and an auxiliary input jack. The base system has 160 watts, a CD player and 6 speakers; all now have RDS program information. Middle-trim models add a 6-disc CD changer, while top models bring the premium audio system, with 270 watts, seven speakers, an 8-inch subwoofer, and available XM satellite radio. There's also a navigation system that includes a Bluetooth hands-free phone link, voice activation, and an integrated Zagat guide.
The list of standard safety equipment includes vehicle stability assist and active front head restraints, along with front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist.

2009 Kia Amanti
Kia's premium large car went through a number of changes for 2007, and carries on essentially unchanged for 2008.
Under the hood is the 3.8L aluminum-block "Lambda" V6 engine that makes 264 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque, and it is coupled with a five-speed Sportmatic automatic transmission. The car's fully independent suspension delivers satisfying handling.
The Amanti continues to come in a single, very well-equipped model, at a low price, with relatively few options. The interior gets standard chrome interior door handles plus wood and leather trim, while upholstery is either cloth or leather. A leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls is also standard, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, a six-speaker cassette/CD sound system, heated mirrors, power front seats, and a sunroof.
Various other popular options are grouped in packages. The Leather Package brings leather seats, a memory setting for the driver's seat and mirrors, heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, a trip computer, and upgraded audio. The Premium Package adds aluminum interior trim and 17-inch chrome wheels. Machined 17-inch alloy wheels are also available.
The Amanti has eight standard air bags, including separate front and rear side air bags and full-length side curtain air bags. Active head restraints and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with electronic brake distribution (EBD) are also standard, while electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, and brake assist are available in an affordably priced option package.
Kia provides powertrain warranty coverage to ten years or 100,000 miles and basic coverage for five years or 60,000 miles.
2009 Mini Cooper
All the Coopers in the MINI lineup are praised for their agility and fun-to-drive factor, and all of that returns for 2009. With the addition of the Clubman, there is a MINI to suit all tastes. The cars come as 2-door hardtops, longer Clubman wagons and as convertibles. The base powertrain across the range is a normally aspirated 1.6L 4-cylinder engine. In the hardtop models the engine is capable of 118 hp, while the ragtop sees 115 hp. Transmission options in the hard top models is either a standard 6-speed Getrag manual or a 6-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. In the convertible, either a 5-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) with clutchless manual Steptronic are available.
The Cooper S adds an additional level of performance to the MINI, again available across the range. The S is powered by a 172-hp turbocharged version of the 1.6L (168 hp in the convertible). Six-speeds are the norm on S cars, with either the standard manual or an available automatic. S models also feature 16-inch alloys and sport-tuned suspension for increased agility and responsiveness.
New for 2009 is an exciting 207-hp turbocharged 4-cylinder of the John Cooper Works cars. The 6-speed manual is the only transmission available. Currently available in the hardtop and Clubman, the JCW adds 17-inch alloys, an even more aggressive suspension and big, heavy-duty brakes. Also included in the package are stability and traction control, special exterior and interior appointments, and supportive sport seats.
MINIs are almost endlessly customizable, with a broad palette of exterior and interior color combinations and several cockpit materials. They are also available with a long list of options packages, which add features like an electric sunroof with twin glass front and back, automatic air conditioning, fog lamps, Bluetooth hands-free communication, auto rain-sensing wipers as well as heated seats and mirrors.
All MINI Coopers come standard with six air bags, antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake control and daytime running lamps.
2006 Lexus ES330
2006 Lexus ES330 is a sedan. The further description about this vehicle is as follows:
Toyota’s original plan was to sell the Lexus LS 400, the division’s flagship, as a standalone model. However, U.S. dealers feared the large V8-powered sedan wouldn’t be able to support their investment, and lobbied for another model to sell alongside it. Toyota’s answer was the 1990 ES 250, a Camry-based sedan sporting unique sheet metal, a more luxurious interior, and more standard equipment. The ES 250 took the Toyota Vista’s four-door hardtop body from the home market, and stuffed a 2.5-liter V6 coupled to either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission under the hood. A Lexus grille insert and LS 400-style wheels, contrasting lower body cladding, and frameless door glass combined with a well-equipped interior to set it apart from its Camry cousins. However, many believed the car to be a placeholder in the lineup until a unique Lexus model could be introduced. They were both right, and wrong.
When the second generation ES launched as a 1992 model, it kept its Camry roots, but Toyota significantly upgraded the vehicle’s specification. The suspension was tuned for greater ride comfort and to handle its extra 200-lbs. Much of this increase came from liberal use of greater sound insulation. Engine size increased to 3.0 liters, power output rose from 156 to 185 horsepower, and both a five-speed manual and four-speed automatic were offered. Real California Maple trim adorned the instrument panel and console, LS 400-grade leather covered the interior, and an eight-speaker sound system was standard. The combination of a longer wheelbase, greater width, new and unique styling, and a long list of standard equipment quickly made the ES 300 Lexus’ best selling car.
The third generation ES arrived as a 1997 model, and was powered by a 200-hp version of the 3.0-liter V6 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Eliminating the manual gearbox not only saved money, it acknowledged the ES 300’s role as a comfortable, not sporty, luxury sedan. Wheelbase and length increased again, mirroring changes made to the Camry platform on which it was still based, and the engine’s output increased to 210 hp in 1999. Not long after, the IS replaced the ES as the entry-level model for Lexus.
This coincided with the introduction of the fourth generation ES, and allowed Toyota engineers to make the ES larger, quieter, and more comfortable. The 3.0-liter V6 was coupled to a five-speed automatic, and the level of standard equipment increased yet again. In 2004, engine displacement was increased to 3.3 liters, and the front and rear fascias, lights, and grille were updated the following year. As before, the equipment levels rose, and the ES was outsold only by the RX crossover.
The current ES launched as a 2007 model, and grew again in both wheelbase and overall length. Sporting the Lexus “L finesse” styling developed by Ferrari Daytona designer Leonardo Fioravanti, the ES 350 features a 3.5-liter V6 and six-speed automatic transmission, and even more equipment. Though it remains the best selling Lexus sedan and will receive a mild facelift for the 2010 model year, its future is uncertain. Lexus has investigated both eliminating the ES or moving it from the Camry platform.

2009 Chrysler 300
The 2009 Chrysler 300 and 300C models are good people-haulers, with a smooth ride, comfortable interior and lots of trunk space. The V8 models are surprisingly fuel-efficient due to the included Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which can temporarily shut down half of the engine's cylinders when they're not needed.
Also, the high-performance SRT8 model is in another league altogether, with acceleration and braking that are competitive with some of the top sport sedans from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi.
The Chrysler 300 is offered in seven different models with four different engines underhood for 2009. The base LX comes with a 178-hp 2.7L V6 engine, while Touring and Limited models get a 250-hp 3.5L V6. The top-of-the-range 300C comes with a 5.7L Hemi V8 making 340 hp and 390 ft-lb of torque, while the exclusive 300C SRT8 comes with a 425-hp, 6.1L version of the Hemi. Walter P. Chrysler Executive models are offered in both Touring and Hemi trim and add six inches in overall length.
All V6 models come with a 4-speed automatic transmission while the V8s are mated with a 5-speed automatic. An all-wheel drive system is available on Touring, Limited, and 300C models and features a new active transfer case with front axle disconnect that adjusts how much power is delivered to the front wheels depending on driving conditions.
Both the 5.7L and 6.1L Hemi V8s feature Chrysler's Multi-Displacement System (MDS), which turns off four of the cylinders when cruising or coasting, so as to improve fuel economy by as much as 20 percent.
The base LX model comes with a rather short equipment list relative to most other mid-size and large sedans. Anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control are optional, but standard on the other models.
The 300 includes an extensive list of available entertainment technology. Sirius satellite TV is offered on the 300, as is Sirius satellite radio, and the available DVD navigation system features a 6.5-inch screen. Then there's MyGig, an entertainment system that includes a 20-gigabyte hard drive for storing music and pictures, a built-in Gracenote music database and voice-memo recorder, and a UConnect Bluetooth hands-free phone interface.
Other options featured as part of packages include a sunroof, a 276-watt Boston Acoustics sound system with six speakers, California Walnut wood trim, remote start, LED interior illumination, SmartBeam headlamps and rain-sensing wipers. A Heritage Group Package is available on the 300C and brings a 368-watt sound system, luxury leather seating with heated rear seats and poplar burl interior accents. And for the truly power-hungry, there is the exclusive SRT8 model, which includes a 425-hp 6.1L version of the Hemi V8, a specially calibrated AutoStick 5-speed automatic, a lowered sport suspension and performance-tuned ESP stability control. Big 20-inch wheels, a functional hood scoop for added cooling, Brembo vented brakes, and larger dual chromed exhaust tips are also included. Inside, the SRT8 includes performance suede seat inserts, LED interior lighting and an electronic vehicle information center.

2008 Nissan 350Z
The 2008 Nissan 350Z continues on with no significant changes from the previous year. One new color is available: Nogaro Red.
The limited edition 350Z NISMO that was released for 2007 continues on for the 2008 model year. Available as a coupe only, the NISMO is billed as the best handling Z ever, and is equipped with all manner of performance enhancements, including an aerodynamic kit, tuned exhaust, lightweight wheels, Brembo brakes, and a stiffer body.

Nissan's 2008 350Z manages to capture all the excitement of the original Z car. The 350Z is one of the few affordable sports cars that is still offered as either a coupe or convertible. The car's styling is notable, handling is taut, and power is ample, and the coupe starts at $28,605 including destination charge. Few other cars on the market can make such claims, while still being an honest-to-goodness sports car.
Datsun forever changed the world of affordable sports cars when they launched their sleekly styled, six-cylinder missile, the Datsun 240Z, in 1971. Five years after the Z car's reintroduction to the U.
S. market, the 2008 Nissan 350Z happily stays true to the 240Z's successful blend of performance, style, and reasonable price.
The 350Z shares its platform with the Infiniti G35 sedan and G37 coupe. These cars all use Nissan's FM (front midengine) platform that places the engine behind the front axle line for optimal weight distribution, resulting in excellent handling. The 350Z uses the fourth-generation 3.5L, 24-valve DOHC V6 which in this application, makes 306 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual and a five?speed automatic transmission with down-shift rev matching are available, and both a coupe and a roadster are on offer.
Inside, the Z is obviously a pure driver's car. The tachometer is large and directly ahead of the driver. When you release the tilt lever the whole instrument pod goes up and down with the steering wheel. It's a thoughtful detail that ensures a great view of the instruments at all times. The three small round gauges atop the center of the dashboard echo back to the original Z car, and a large storage compartment opens right below it. This is where the GPS system resides if you choose this option. Everything in the cockpit is pointedly styled, and just flat out works.
Even better than the interior is the driving. Nissan obviously went to a lot of trouble to make the Z chassis an exceptionally stiff one. Under the hood a brace connects the two shock towers. There is also a larger cross member that takes up a significant amount of rear cargo area. The Z's power is magnificent. The stiff chassis makes for a firm ride, but it also elevates the handling prowess of the Z beyond some high-buck sports cars. The ABS-equipped four-wheel disc brakes are absolutely fantastic.
The 350Z has a number of trims, including Enthusiast, Touring, and Grand Touring. The Enthusiast adds a limited slip differential, traction control, cruise control, aluminum pedals, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a HomeLink universal garage door opener. The Touring gets heated leather seats, Bluetooth, XM satellite radio, and a Bose audio system. The Grand Touring adds Brembo brakes, super lightweight 18-inch wheels, vehicle dynamic control and front and rear spoilers.
Side air bags for both the body and head are optional, as is a DVD-based navigation system, and satellite radio.
A limited number of NISMO coupes will be built for 2008. These special edition vehicles have a more rigid body (as much as 60% stiffer in many areas), a rear diffuser, a front spoiler, lighter wheels, large Brembo brakes, and a suspension with high spring rates and a bigger rear stabilizer bar.

2009 Volvo C70
Volvo's C70 was completely redesigned in 2006 and remains relatively unchanged for 2009. Outside, the Volvo features larger badging across the back. The front disc brakes have enlarged and the car has been lighted by 165 pounds. Bluetooth hands-free connectivity is now standard, and Vanilla Pearl Metallic has been added to the exterior color palette.
Volvo's front-wheel-drive C70 convertible is offered only with the top-performing T5 engine for 2009, a 2.5L five-cylinder engine making 227 horsepower. It is matched to a standard six-speed manual gearbox with triple synchros for optimum shift feel, while a five-speed Geartronic automatic transmission with manual shift control is optional. With the manual transmission, Volvo says the C70 can reach 60 mph in 7.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 150 mph.
The C70 has a contemporary appearance consistent with the rest of the Volvo lineup. Most notably, the cockpit features the super-thin "floating" center stack, which allows a flow-through storage area behind the audio and climate controls. A special synthetic seating material called Vulcaflex is standard on the C70, while leather upholstery is optional.
The retractable hard top system folds away neatly inside the trunk in about 30 seconds, and while the trunk contents are still accessible with the top down, usable cargo space decreases from 12.8 cubic feet to 6.8 cubic feet. The top boasts several other important benefits; It offers better outward visibility and a quieter interior than a soft-top convertible, while the top also assures a stiffer body for better handling. It also gives the attractive appearance of a coupe body style.
The C70 uses a unique door-mounted inflatable curtain air bag design, which offers head protection in side impacts and rollovers even when the windows are down, and offers supplemental protection in the event of a rollover. Automatically deploying pop-up roll bars also protect occupants in the event of a rollover.
A six-disc CD changer with MP3 compatibility comes with the standard sound system, which has eight speakers and 160 watts over four channels. The optional Dynaudio sound system cranks out 910 watts of power and has Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound, 14 speakers and dual 8-inch woofers.
The Premium Package brings leather seating, a remote garage door opener and a compass, while the Climate Package groups heated front seats, headlamp washers and rain-sensing windshield wipers. A Convenience Package bundles rear park assist, keyless drive and a blind spot information system with power retractable exterior mirrors. Standalone options include a DVD-based navigation system, bi-xenon headlamps and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Following its 2008 introduction, the 2009 Volvo C30 carries over with a few changes, mostly in the repackaging of trim levels. The base Version 1.0 model is now the T5, while the previous Version 2.0 is now called the T5 R-Design. A Preferred Package with premium Dynaudio sound, power driver's seat, fog lights and more joins the options list.
The 2009 Volvo C30 is very much mechanically related to the S40 sedan and V50 wagon, but it is much smaller and promises a sportier ride with a greater fun factor.
The C30 hatchback has a unique interior treatment with four bucket seats; in back they fold flat to expand the cargo capacity to 20.2 cubic feet. All C30s derive their power from a 227-horsepower, 2.5L turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine. It has front-wheel drive and is available with a six-speed manual gearbox or five-speed automatic with Geartronic manual selection.
The C30 comes in two main trims, the base T5 and the sporty R-Design. The T5 is well equipped compared with other vehicles in its price range; standard features include air conditioning, keyless entry, leather trim, steering-wheel audio controls and a 160-watt, eight-speaker sound system. The R-Design builds on that with the Dynamic Chassis Control system for better handling, larger "Atreus" 18-inch alloy wheels, polished exhaust pipes, Sirius Satellite Radio and a 650-watt Dynaudio sound system with ten speakers and Dolby surround sound. Stand-alone options include a power moonroof, leather upholstery, and on R models, a navigation system and power driver's seat. A Climate Package available on both models adds heated front seats, headlamp washers and Rainsensor wipers, while a Preferred Package offers premium Dynaudio sound, power driver's seat, fog lights and more. The C30 is the only Volvo vehicle to offer the Custom Build ordering process. For a $300 charge, customers will have a chance to build and order their own cars with extra exterior colors and several interior color combinations, plus additional options and accessories. Examples of these additional options include automatic climate control, a blind spot information system, rear park assist, bi-xenon headlamps, cruise control and several different styles of inlays and trims.
Electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution are standard on all C30s, as are a host of airbags.

2008 Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen added a new trim to the 2008 New Beetle lineup and renamed the base trim the S. The SE trim is a mid-range offering, and it includes a number of desirable items, most notably 17-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a sunroof on the coupe. The Triple White Beetle is no longer orderable on the convertible, but it is newly available on the coupe.

The distinctive Volkswagen New Beetle coupe is no longer a fresh face for 2008, but it still stands out for its spacious front seating, pleasant ride, and abundance of safety features. The convertible is also one of the most affordable drop-tops, and it boasts a very high level of refinement.
The stylish 2008 Volkswagen New Beetle is available in S and SE trims, while the coupe is now available in Triple White as well. All New Beetles have a 150-horsepower 2.5L inline five-cylinder engine that is hooked up to a five-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic with Tiptronic. With the manual transmission, the Beetle is quite frugal, with an estimated 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway.
New Beetles have a number of standard safety features, including front-seat head/thorax side air bags, anti-lock brakes, and the electronic stabilization program with anti-slip regulation. The New Beetle convertible has a three-layer cloth soft top with a heated rear glass window. Audi's 2008 A3 hatchback enters its third model year looking much like it did upon its debut. A tire pressure monitor is part of the standard equipment list for 2008, as are daytime running lights. The S-Line quattro model receives an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
The S-Line and Premium Packages include different wheels from 2007, and xenon lights no longer require a package to be ordered. The Titanium Package is new for 2008, and it includes black exterior trim, unique 18-inch alloy wheels, and performance tires. A Convenience Package, which includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a rain/light sensor, replaces last year's Technology Package. Also, rear sunshades, walnut wood trim, and an iPod glovebox interface are available.
A new partial zero-emissions version of the 2.0L engine is available in "clean car" states.

The compromise between ride and handling is perfect for the A3's intended mission. The car can be pressed hard through the corners, yet the ride is never punishing. The back seat provides plenty of room for a family with two growing children.

2004 Aston Martin DB7

The Aston Martin DB7 is a grand tourer made by Aston Martin from September 1994 to December 2003. The grand tourer was available either as a coupé or a convertible. The prototype was complete by November 1992, and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March, 1993. The six-cylinder DB7 was positioned as an "entry-level" model below the hand-built V8 Virage introduced a few years earlier. The DB7 was the highest production Aston Martin model ever, with more than 7,000 built before it was replaced by the DB9. The DB7 was styled by Ian Callum and Keith Helfet, and it is widely considered a beautiful and timeless automotive design.
The DB7, known internally as the NPX project, was made mostly with resources from Jaguar and had the financial backing of the Ford Motor Company, owner of Aston Martin since 1988. The DB7's platform is an evolution of the Jaguar XJS's, though with many changes. The styling started life as the still-born Jaguar F type (XJ41 - coupe / XJ42 - convertible)designed by Keith Helfet. Ford cancelled this car and the general design was grafted onto an XJS platform. The styling received modest changes by Ian Callum so that it looked like an Aston Martin. The first generation Jaguar XK-8 also uses an evolution of the XJ-S/DB-7 platform and the cars share a family resemblance, though the Aston Martin was significantly more expensive and exclusive.
The DB7 was engineered in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, by TWR Tom_Walkinshaw_Racing on behalf of Aston Martin. The production engines continued to be built in Kidlington during the life of the vehicle.
With production of the Virage (soon rechristened "V8" following Vantage styling revisions) continuing at Newport Pagnell, a new factory was acquired at Bloxham, Oxfordshire that had previously been used to produce the Jaguar XJ-220, where every DB7 would be built throughout its production run. The DB-7 and its relatives were the only Aston Martins produced in Bloxham and the only ones with a steel unit construction inherited from Jaguar (Aston Martin had traditionally used aluminium for the bodies of their cars, and models introduced after the DB-7 use aluminium for the chassis as well as for many major body parts).
The convertible Volante version was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in 1996. Both versions have a supercharged straight-6 engine that produced 335 bhp (250 kW; 340 PS). In the United States, the Coupé sold for $140,000, and the Volante for $150,000. Works Service provided a special Driving Dynamics package, which greatly enhanced performance and handling for drivers who wanted more than the standard configuration.

The 2008 Isuzu Ascender offers a pleasant ride on the tough chassis it shares with the Chevy TrailBlazer and GMC Envoy, and it draws its 285 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque from the same 4.2L V6. The Ascender is available in three trim levels-S, LS, and Luxury-and each comes in either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models.
All Ascenders come with a rear intermittent wiper, fog lamps, trailer hitch, 17-inch alloy wheels, height-adjustable front seat headrests, a 65/35 split folding rear bench seat, power windows and locks, tilt steering, air conditioning with dual-zone climate control, and a rear auxiliary outlet.
The Ascender LS and Luxury models add an automatic locking rear differential, dual heated power mirrors, privacy glass, a power moonroof, roof rail crossbars, remote keyless entry and alarm system, cruise control, and an in-dash six-disc CD changer with six speakers. 2009 Cadillac CTS
The 2009 Cadillac CTS is now offered with either a 263-horsepower, 3.6L V6 with variable valve timing, or a new direct-injection 3.6L making 304 horsepower. Besides increasing power output, the engine's direct injection system improves fuel economy and reduces emissions. Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with driver shift control. Performance oriented all-wheel drive system is available, mated only to the automatic transmission.
The CTS utilizes a strut tower brace for improved chassis stiffness and large 12.4"-diameter performance disc brakes. Three different suspension tuning levels are available ranging from comfortable to high-performance: FE1, FE2, and FE3. The standard wheels are 17-inch alloys, but larger 18-inch wheels are available, finished either with a multi-coat or high-polish look. All wheel drive is optional and adds $3200 to the price.
The CTS does come very well equipped, but the interior appointments and available high-tech options are what really distinguish the model from its competitors. The center console was designed in consultation with entertainment industry experts and has an interface for iPods and music players, including a USB port. There's also an available 40-gigabyte hard-drive music system that allows recording of live radio and ripping of CDs. The sound system itself has a 300-watt amplifier, ten speakers, and Bose Centerpoint technology. Also on the options list is a 3D-imaging navigation system with eight-inch screen, an adaptive forward lighting system that adjusts the beam direction of the xenon lamps to improve night visibility, and a heated windshield and washer system, along with heated and ventilated front seats.
The new interior incorporates handcrafted trim on the instrument panel and doors, and hand-cut, sewn, and wrapped materials used throughout. Recessed LED interior lighting also helps to improve the interior ambiance, and a distinctive Ultra-View sunroof that provides a sky view for both front and rear occupants is available. The seats themselves have been redesigned to maximize space for back-seat passengers.
A full range of air bags are standard on the CTS, including a new dual-depth front passenger air bag, plus front pelvic/thorax bags, along with roof-rail side-curtain bags covering front and rear rows. The StabiliTrak system and four-channel anti-lock brakes are also standard.

Following a major redesign in 2007 and only minor changes last year, Acura's top-of-the-line MDX SUV carries over into 2009 with minimal updates. The remote-operated power tailgate previously available only with the Entertainment Package is now included in the Technology and Sport packages.

There are only a few vehicles that can be used in place of a small fleet of cars, and the 2009 Acura MDX is one of the best of them. For starters, the MDX doubles nicely as a luxury sedan. The front leather-trimmed power seats both coddle and support you, plus their heating function is a godsend when winter's arctic blasts hit. The electric moonroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, speed-sensing windshield wipers, satellite radio, and incredible sound system almost seem out of place in an SUV.
The MDX is still an SUV, though. All-wheel drive ensures MDX can handle inclement weather, a possible 83.5 cubic feet of storage space guarantees a trip to the home center won't be a problem, seating for seven helps for carpool duties, and a 5,000-lb towing capacity can get the boat to the lake.
The MDX was developed partly on European racetracks, and offers driving dynamics that make it a suitable substitute for sportier alternatives. The 300-hp 3.7L VTEC V6 goes a long way to satisfying boy-racer fantasies. The four-wheel disc brakes provide ample stopping power, the ride is excellent, and the handling is assured. A 5-speed automatic transmission backs up all MDXs.
Other standard equipment includes a 10-way power adjustable driver seat, an 8-speaker, 6-disc CD stereo with MP3 playback, steering wheel controls for cruise control and the stereo, and Bluetooth handsfree wireless telephone interface.
A Technology Package adds navigation, a rearview camera, real-time traffic updates, a premium 10-speaker stereo, and remote power tailgate. The Sport Package comes with an active damping suspension system that adjusts the shocks in milliseconds to meet driving demands. A button on the console allows the driver to select between sport and comfort modes. Most impressive is Acura's use of its SH-AWD (super handling-all wheel drive). Not only is power shifted front to rear to aid when the road becomes slippery, but it also transfers a goodly portion of the 275 lb-ft of torque between the right and left rear wheels to provide better drive out of the corners. The Sport Package also tacks on premium leather seat trim, the power tailgate, and the contents of the Technology Package.
An Entertainment Package can be added to either of the above and includes heated second row seats, a DVD rear-seat entertainment system, and a 115-volt console outlet.

Success came early for the brand. Henry Royce built his first car in 1904, and partnered with Charles Rolls soon thereafter. They founded Rolls-Royce Ltd. in 1906 and introduced the six-cylinder Silver Ghost shortly thereafter. Soon the name Rolls-Royce became synonymous with “world’s best.” Like all the pre-war Rolls-Royce automobiles that would follow, the Silver Ghost was produced as a rolling chassis. The body design and production were left to custom coachbuilders.
The Silver Ghost remained in production for 18 years before yielding to the Phantom I in 1925. The Phantom was a masterpiece of refinement and innovation. Its engine specifications would read well in today’s market: six cylinders, aluminum crankcase, overhead valves, and dual-coil ignition. The Phantom III was launched in 1935. With an overhead valve, 7.3-liter V-12, it was massively powerful. It featured an innovative coil-spring independent front suspension that was based on a design by none other than General Motors. The Wraith of 1939 was a more compact Rolls-Royce, and its innovations included a crossflow cylinder head with the intake ports on one side and the exhaust ports on the other. Very few were built before World War II ended production.
The Silver Wraith of 1946 was the first post-war Rolls, and it was the last to be fitted with custom coachwork. The automobile remained in production until 1959. The Silver Cloud was introduced in 1955. Its coachwork was a departure from previous Rolls-Royce models, with sweeping curves defining its shape. A number of Silver Cloud models followed. Most significant was the Silver Cloud II, which introduced the brand’s all-aluminum 6.2-litre V-8 engine and the rather noisy clock that became the focus of an Ogilvy ad: “At 60 mph, the loudest noise in this new Roll-Royce comes from the electric clock.” Meanwhile, the Phantom continued as the premier offering, but only 18 Phantom IVs were built (most for royalty and heads of state). This was followed by a mere 516 Phantom Vs.
In the 1970s, Rolls-Royce fell upon hard times and went into receivership. In 1980 the company became a subsidiary of Vickers. In the 1990s, the prestigious manufacturing firm went on the block again and was purchased by Volkswagen, which eventually turned the brand over to BMW.

2002 Rolls Royce Corniche

The Corniche was Rolls-Royce's coupé and convertible version of the Silver Shadow produced between 1971 and 1996. The Corniche was named "Silver Shadow Mulliner Park Ward two door fixed head coupé " (alternatively - drop head coupé ) before 1971 when the Corniche name was applied. The exterior design was by John Polwhele Blatchley. (The independent coachmaker James Young had already custom-made a two-door coupé variant of the Silver Shadow, but Young's model proved less popular and was soon discontinued).
The model was assembled and finished in London at Mulliner Park Ward as continuation of the 1965 Silver Shadow coupe and 1967 drophead, with the Corniche name applied in 1971. The Corniche was also sold as a Bentley, though that model became known as the Continental in 1984. The first car to wear the Corniche name was a 1939 prototype based on the Bentley Mark V which was never produced because of the onset of World War II.
The Corniche was available both as a coupé and convertible, with the former discontinued in 1982.
The car used the standard Rolls-Royce V8 engine. It had an aluminium-silicon alloy block and aluminum cylinder heads with cast iron wet cylinder liners. The bore was 4.1 in (104.1 mm) and the stroke was 3.9 in (99.1 mm) for a total of 6.75 L (6750 cc/411 in³). Twin SU carburettors were initially fitted with a single Solex 4-barrel carburettor introduced in 1975. Export models retained the twin SU's until 1980, when Bosch fuel injection was added.
A 3-speed automatic transmission (a Turbo Hydramatic 400 sourced from General Motors) was standard. A four-wheel independent suspension with coil springs was augmented with a hydraulic self-levelling system (using the same Citroen system, but without pneumatic springs, and hydraulic components built under licence by Rolls-Royce), at first on all four, but later in the rear wheels only. Four wheel disc brakes were specified, with ventilated discs added for 1972.
